Decoding Your Reports
Many patients in Pakistan receive blood test reports but don't understand the numbers. Here's a simple guide to the most common tests.
CBC (Complete Blood Count)
- Hemoglobin: Normal: 12-16 g/dL (women), 14-18 g/dL (men). Low = anemia
- WBC: Normal: 4,000-11,000. High = infection. Low = immune issue
- Platelets: Normal: 150,000-450,000. Low in dengue, ITP
Blood Sugar
- Fasting: Normal <100 mg/dL. Diabetic >126 mg/dL
- HbA1c: Normal <5.7%. Diabetic >6.5%
