When to Go to Emergency vs Clinic

Not every symptom needs an ER visit. Learn which situations warrant emergency care and which can wait for a clinic appointment.

Making the Right Decision

In Pakistan, emergency departments are often overcrowded with non-emergency cases. Knowing when to go to ER vs when to visit a clinic helps everyone get better care.

Go to Emergency If:

  • Chest pain, difficulty breathing, or loss of consciousness
  • Severe bleeding that won't stop
  • High fever with seizures in children
  • Suspected stroke (face drooping, arm weakness, speech difficulty)
  • Severe allergic reaction

Visit Clinic For:

  • Mild fever, cough, cold lasting less than 3 days
  • Minor injuries without deformity
  • Chronic condition follow-ups
  • Routine blood tests and checkups
